Gobo projection is a beautiful way to display a custom monogram or image of your choice. Illuminate your initials or any image of your choice on the dance floor, wall, or ceiling. Design your own image or choose among a variety of templates and we will take care of the rest– image standardizing, ordering, installing, and set up at your wedding. Help designing your image is also available. Just let us know! You also get to keep the gobo as a keepsake when the wedding is over!
Before designing a gobo image, decide if you will be ordering a steel or glass gobo. We most commonly do steel gobos since they are more affordable and produce really great results. A drawback to the steel gobo is that images must be tabbed to hold the image together. Glass gobo images are more expensive, but do not require tabbing so they produce an overall sharper result.
The final size of the projection depends on where you want the image projected and where the fixture is mounted. While our lights can zoom the image to some extent, the restrictions of the venue often determine the final sizing and angle of the image. For example, if you want the image projected onto the dance floor, a second story balcony or tall, mountable ceilings are ideal. In general, the further from the projection surface we can mount the light, the larger we can get the image. Also, the more direct angle we can project from, the less keystoning/tilt effect will occur.
In any case, we will work with you and the venue to be sure your gobo looks great!
Native Photoshop (.psd), Illustrator (.ai, .eps) and uncompressed image files such as TIFF (.tif), BMP (.bmp), and PICT (.pict) are recommended. JPEGs and GIFs are not recommended, but okay if your image size is at least 2 times larger than the size of the gobo (100mm in diameter). The image does not need to be round in shape, but keep in mind gobos are cut onto a round disc and will be fitted accordingly. Minimum recommended resolution is 300 dpi and no smaller than 762 x 762 pixels.
Please submit your image to us at least 4 weeks prior to your wedding day. This will allow time to edit the image, if needed, order, and test before it goes into action! Rush orders may be accommodated with as few as 5 days notice for an additional charge.
